My favorite tagine in NYC is still here: http://www.taginedining.com/
It's on 9th between 39 & 40, west side of the street, and looks like NOTHING from the outside. The area itself looks incredibly seedy, but the food is totally worth it. As is the music, belly dancing, and Algerian red wine.

You're a superstar, Lisa. Yep, it's Moroccan. I've been to Kebab Cafe for Egyptian, and it's owned by the brother of the guy who owns Mombar. The food was amazing so I'm guessing it runs in the family. Little Morocco might be the spot the cabbie was talking about...Will report back. Yes, we do have lots of eating to do.

It's Moroccan? The one I'm thinking of is Egyptian. It has to be the one he's talking about though. Tagines galore.
