Choice Eats for Cabbies

March 16, 2010

Next Monday, March 22, the Village Voice’s food critics are gathering cooks from more than 60 New York restaurants for their third annual Choice Eats tasting extravaganza.

I’m going to the event with a very specific mission: to scope out the best cabbie-friendly foods from among Robert Sietsema and Sarah DiGregorio’s favorite eateries in the five boroughs.

I’ll report back on every place that fits the cheap/fast/tasty description and is located within reasonable distance of a taxi stand. I’ll also add them to the map of New York cabbie-recommended restaurants.

If you’re in New York and want to taste the goodies for yourself – which would be understandable given that restaurants like Xi’an Famous Foods, Tiffin Wallah, Sigmund Pretzelshop, Mantao Chinese Sandwiches, and Krik Krak are going to be there – you can get your ticket here.

PS: A portion of the Choice Eats ticket sales will be donated to Slow Food NYC, so you can feel even better about indulging your inner hedonist.
